Robert Shapter, M.D.

 

Dr. Shapter has been in practice in CT since 1978, and prior to that he held various positions in the military and pharmaceutical industry in Canada, New York, and New Jersey.  He graduated from the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1958.  He received his board certification in Family Medicine in 1978 and was recertified in 1984, 1991, 1998, and 2005.

Dr. Shapter was previously the Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Middlesex Hospital and Assistant Professor of the Department of Medicine at the University of CT Health Center.  He was the Education Director and Editor of The Core Content Review of Family Medicine and is currently a free-lance medical writer/editor. 

Dr. Shapter is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
