Dr. Schmetterling has been in practice since 1987 and joined Hartford Medical Group in 1989, becoming Medical Director of the Bishop's Corner office in 1990. He graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, NY where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1983. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT in 1987 and served as Chief Resident from 1986 to 1987. He received his board certification in Internal Medicine in 1987.
Dr. Schmetterling is on the senior active staff at Hartford Hospital as well as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians as well as the CT State Medical Society and the Hartford County Medical Association.
