Walter Hampton, M.D.

Dr. Hampton has been in practice since 1965 and joined Hartford Medical Group in 1999.  He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York Downstate where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1959.  He completed his internship in 1960 and first year of residency in 1962 at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH.  He completed his residency program at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT in 1964.  He received his board certification in Internal Medicine in 1971.

Prior to joining Hartford Medical Group, Dr. Hampton was in private practice in Simsbury, CT for over 30 years.  He was Medical Director from 1970 to 1990 and Assistant Medical Director from 1990 to 1996 at the McLean Home in Simsbury, CT.  He was also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of CT School of Medicine in Farmington, CT. 

Dr. Hampton is active in assisting local school astronomy programs, skiing and rock climbing.  He led five trips to the Everest region in Nepal in the 1980's and was on the medical support team for the 1980 Winter Olympics.
